AAUW (American Association of University Women)

Purpose:  To promote equity for women and girls, including lifelong education and positive societal change.  To that end, the local Branch raises money for high school students entering college, and mature women seeking further education. 

Membership: Open

Dues:  $68 Annually, includes local, state and national dues

Meetings:  Mostly on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  Social time begins at 10:30 a.m., Meeting at 11, lunch at noon with program following.

Special Events:  Book and Author luncheon, Women of Distinction in luncheon, Advocacy Workshop lead by a national officer. 

 
Academy of Ballroom Dance

Purpose:  To enjoy Ballroom Dancing

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training:  Instruction is provided at every dance at an extra charge

Dues:  $45 Annually

Meetings:  Monthly on the 2nd Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Community Hall

Special Events:  Halloween theme dance, an annual Dinner Dance and other events

 

Amateur Radio Club

Purpose:  To promote the hobby of Amateur Radio Communications..

Membership:  CA members and KP residents; annual dues $10.

Meetings:  Monthly on the 1st Wednesday in the Florida Room at 2 p.m.

General Information:  Fully equipped multi-band radio center in Old Town Hall clubroom. Licensed operators provide communications to other residents and organizations as appropriate.
 
American Legion Post #246

Purpose:  To foster love of God and Country and Americanism

Membership:  CA members and KP residents who are veterans

Dues:  $30 Annually

Meetings:  Six meetings per year in September, October, November, January, March and May on the 4th Friday of the month in Room 3 at Community Hall -- 9 a.m. for refreshments, 9:30 for meeting

Special Events:  Veterans Day on Nov 12 at Community Hall and Memorial Day at Kings Point.  They also participate in a Dinner Dance in February, sponsored by the combined military organizations in SCC.

 
Aquasizers

Purpose:  To promote health and fitness through water exercise and to meet new friends

Membership:  CA members only

Training:  Provided at every class

Dues:  $10 Annually

Meetings:  Regular Water Aerobics Monday through Saturday at 10 a.m. No equipment needed.  Deep Water Aerobics Monday, Thursday and Friday at 9 a.m.  Float belt and barbells required.

Special Events:  Social/fun luncheon on the 2nd Tuesdays

    
Art Club

Purpose:  To provide opportunities for the development and appreciation of the fine arts

Membership:  CA members and KP residents if space is available

Training:  Classes and workshops for all levels of experience and ability are offered regularly.  Sign up sheets are in the Art Room.

Dues:  $10 Annually

Meetings:  2nd Thursday of the month with a free professional demonstration following the business meeting.

Special Events:  Annual juried, judged Art Show, Annual House Tour, Fun Fest, Field Trips and other art related social activities.

Additional Information:  The club has an Art Gallery with member work for sale.  The gallery is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and by appointment.   

 

Ballroom Dance Club

Purpose:  To provide dance music for people interested in the health of it and socialization

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $45 per couple per year.  Non members, $4 per dance

Meetings:  Monthly on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

General Information:  There are dance classes at 6:45 before the dances. Bernice and Art May are the instructors.  Fee is $2 per person.  There are demonstrations during intermission.  The club also has a Christmas Dinner Dance.

 
Big Band Club

Purpose:  To socialize.  Sponsors eight dances a year, three hours long.  Dress-up occasions.

Membership:  200 to 300 CA members only

Dues:  $5 Annually plus $8 at the door

Meetings:  Monthly, time and place to be decided

General Information:  Do not meet in the summers.

 
Billiards

Purpose:  To socialize and play pool

Membership:  CA members only

Dues:  $10 Annually

Meetings:   Members receive door code.

General Information:  No smoking, eating or drinking.  Dues money is used for the covering of the tables when needed.  Help is available for beginners. 

 
Bingo

Purpose:  Social

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  Cards are 2 for $1.  You may buy as many cards as you can handle 

Meetings:  Bingo every Monday night. 

General Information:  No Christmas, No New Years

    
Bridge Education

Purpose:  To teach all levels of Bridge

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training Cost:  $50 for 8 lessons

General Information:  This group is connected with the Duplicate Bridge Club.  You do not have to be a member of the Duplicate group to take the lessons.  If you are a member, lessons are 50 cents less.  Lessons are given every day, depending on your level. 

Special Events:  There is a Christmas Party and a Thanksgiving Party

 
British Connection

Purpose:  To bring together people of British heritage or those interested in Great Brittan to enjoy activities organized by the Club.

Membership:  CA members, KP residents (and Freedom Plaza residents via a waiver).

Dues: $5 Annually

Tea & Conversation:  Last Wednesday of the month from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Eberhardt Building.

Special Events:  Three or four events are planned a year, including Tea and Conversation in the Eberhard Building, a Christmas Tea, Grand National Racing Party and others.

 
Bunka Art

Purpose:  To learn to do Bunka and to create your own pictures

Membership:  CA members only

Dues:  $20 Annually

Meetings:  Weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 12 in the Bunka Room in the Craft Building

Special Events:  Bunka Arts Show in November in the Florida Room

 
Bunka Stitchers

Propose:  To teach and exhibit the beautiful art created by Japanese Bunka Embroidery

Membership:  CA members.

Dues:  $7 Annually. 

Meetings:  Tuesdays from 9:30a.m. to noon, Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

General Information:  An instructor is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for those who have had some experience with Bunka.  Beginner classes are scheduled at various times during the year; a modest materials charge is made. Everyone is welcome to visit the room and watch the members working on their Bunka projects.

 
Caloosa Greens Men’s Golf Club

Purpose:  To organize Competitive Tournaments and to socialize and to have a good time

Membership:  CA members only

Dues $10 Annually plus course membership

Meetings:  Weekly on Wednesdays from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at the Golf Course

Special Events:  Home and Home with Kings Point, Get to-gathers with ladies for golf and socializing, Club Championship, President’s Championship, and Match Play

General Information:  There are about 85 members in the club and new members are always welcome.

    
Caloosa Greens Ladies Golf Club

Purpose:  To socialize and play golf

Membership:  CA members only

Dues:  $10 Annually, $1 each week

Meetings:  Weekly on Thursdays at 8:15 at the Golf Course

Special Events:  Home to Home, Member Guest, President’s Club and Club Championship, Party at the end of the year.

General Information:  Birdie Tree would make dues $11.  Birdie winner gets Pot.

 
Canadian Club of SCC

Purpose:  Socialize

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Special Events:  Four events a year, Mix and Mingle, Golf and Dinner, Welcome back Snowbirds and Goodbye Snowbirds.

 
Ceramics Club

Purpose:  Social and artistic outlet

Membership:  CA members only

Training:  Instruction given -- $1

Dues:  $20 Annually

Meetings:  Workroom is open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.

Special Events:  There is a show in October and a Christmas party in December.  FunFest.each March.

 
CERT

Purpose:  Volunteers trained by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue to respond to emergencies when uniformed first responders are overwhelmed.  There are 11 CERT teams in Hillsborough County.

Membership:  Open to all CA & KP residents. Training and basic member equipment supplied.

Dues: None

Meetings:  4th Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Florida Room

General Information:  There are usually one or two County- or State-sponsored drills a year. Supply depots/rally points in both SCC and KP.


Chess & Checkers Club

Purpose:  To provide a time and place to play Chess and Checkers

Membership:  Open to all

Meetings:  Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Atrium, next to the Computer Room

Special Events:  Tournaments.  Went to Leonard High School to play chess with students

 
China Painting

Purpose:  To provide classes and demonstrations to benefit members so they become more skilled artists.

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $10 Annually

Meetings:  Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Craft Building

Special Events:  Annual Convention, gift shop sales pay for the bus to go.  Also participate in FunFest and Hi Neighbor.  We also have a Christmas potluck. 

    
Coalition for Mental Health and Aging

Purpose:  To educate and inform residents of SCC about the availability of mental health services in Hillsborough County. The Coalition for Mental Health and Aging is affiliated with the Florida Coalition on Optimal Mental Health and Aging

Membership:  CA members and KP residents, training in the mental health field is required

Dues:  $10 Annually

Meetings:  4th Thursday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Sandpiper Room

General Information:  The group works in conjunction with Good Samaritan Services to (1) make referrals to mental health counselors in the area, (2) to provide screening for dementia and depression, (3) Educational Programs with regard to Mental Health Issues, (4) to Support groups for residents with major life concerns.

 
Community Information Center   (642-2044)

Purpose:  To provide hosts and hostesses for community visitors and residents who seek orientation or other information about Sun City Center’s lifestyle.

Membership: CA Members

Training:  Two 2-hour briefings and a walking tour to cover the facilities, amenities and lifestyle of Sun City Center, and to learn how to find information not at our finger tips.  
Dues: None
Meetings:  Volunteers are assigned to 2-hour shifts weekdays between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

General Information:  Information packets are assembled and reviewed by the hosts and hostesses tailored to the visitor’s needs; tours of the Central Campus are offered.

 
Competitive Tennis Club

Purpose:  To have fun playing competitive tennis

Membership:  CA members only

Dues:  $5 Annually

Meetings:  Weekly on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. at the tennis courts on the South Campus

General Information:  The club holds mixers.  The club provides healthy enjoyable tennis for all interested CA men and women.

 
Country Cloggers of SCC

Purpose:  To learn to Clog and have fun

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $10 Annually

Meetings:  Beginners -- Mondays at 12 noon.  Intermediate -- Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until noon.

Special Events:  This performing club clogs for retirements and the Follies; make our own costumes.

 
Country Music Club (Front Porch Pickers)

Purpose:  To meet and enjoy country and gospel music and just have fun

Membership:  CA members and KP residents interested in traditional music

Training:  None required

Dues:  None/Donations accepted

Meetings:  Wednesdays from 1 – 3 in the Heritage/Armstrong Room

Special Events:  Renaissance Faire

General Information:  Group plays for clubs – PA, Ohio, etc.


Computer Club

Purpose:  To encourage and further the use of computers and to educate residents regarding the use of computers.

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training:  Classes are offered 5 or 6 days a week in subjects including Introduction to Computers, Word Processing, File Management, Quicken, Spread Sheets, How to build and maintain a computer, etc.  There are also Special Interest Groups (SIG) programs. 

Dues:  $25 Annually

Meetings:  1st Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Community Hall.

Additional Information:  The club offers many educational opportunities and trouble shooting assistance.

 
Crafts and Things

Purpose:  To make crafty objects for fun and profit so club can purchase supplies

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $5 Annually

Meetings:  1st and 3rd Wednesdays at noon in the Sandpiper Room from September through May

General Information:  Participates in FunFest and has a Holiday Bazaar in the Atrium

 
Cygnet Yacht Club

Purpose:  To just have fun and sail our model boats.

Dues:  $10 initiation fee

Meetings:  Mondays and Thursdays at 8 a.m. – sail at 8:30 at Swan Lake, behind the Arts &Crafts Building.

General information:  Have a series of 48 races.  Trophies are awarded.  Would like someone with a video camera to record incidents.

 
DAR

Purpose:  To encourage patriotism and do genealogy

Membership:  CA residents and KP members

Dues:  $50 Annually

Meetings:  3rd Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Florida Room

General Information:  The group donates American flags to other organizations and schools; participates in Hi Neighbor and visits various facilities in the area to attend discussion programs.

 
DAV Chapter #110 (Disabled American Veterans)

Purpose:  To assist and help veterans who are combat injured or have any disability

Membership:  Open

Dues:  $5 Annually, or $200 for lifetime membership

Meetings:  4th Thursday of every month at 1 p.m. in the Caper Room

General Information:  Help with paper work is available on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.  The organization is getting a van to transport members to James Haley Veterans Hospital. 

 
Deck and a Half Pinochle

Purpose:  To play pinochle and have fun

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues: $1

Meetings:  Fridays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Heritage and Royal Rooms

General Information:  Light refreshments are served.  The group also has a Christmas party

  
Dinner Dance Club

Purpose:  To have a nice dinner and enjoy dancing

Membership: 

Dues:  $375 per couple covers sit-down dinner, wine and dancing for the entire season

Meetings:  Monthly October through May on the 1st Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Florida Room

 
Dog Owners Group (DOG)

Purpose:  To provide 2 dog parks where dogs and owners to get together and socialize on South Campus.

Membership:  CA members only

Dues:  $20 Annually

Meetings:  2 or 3 a year at various times and places

Special Events:  A Dog Show in the spring and a Flea Market in the fall

 
Elegant Gardeners (formerly Flower Arrangers and Garden Club)

Purpose:  To promote an interest in horticulture, environmental concerns and flower arranging

Membership:
  CA members and KP residents if openings available


Dues:
  $17.50 Annually


Meetings:
  1st Tuesdays – Flower Arrangers at 10 a.m. in the Armstrong Room; 2nd Wednesdays -- Elegant Gardeners at 10 a.m. in Room #3 at Community Hall.


General Information:
  The Flower Arrangers and the Garden Club consolidated into the Elegant Gardeners. As a federated garden club, they have access to educational workshops throughout the state in landscaping, horticultural, environmental studies and floral design.


Special Events:
  Mother’s Day Baskets, Garden Tours and Luncheon, Christmas Luncheon

 
Emergency Squad


Purpose:
  To provide emergency care to residents in the greater Sun City Center area.


Membership:
  98% of members are CA members or KP residents, however, the squad is open to others from the area.


Training:
  Provided at no cost at the Emergency Squad Building.  About 95% of members did not have a medical background when they joined the Squad.


Meetings:
  Squad members commit to work every 8th day.  Shifts are ½ day or longer


Special Events:
  Annual Christmas/Recognition Party


Additional Information.
  This is an important, all-volunteer service for Sun City Center residents.  We always need volunteers for ambulances, vans, dispatching and more.

 
Euchre


Purpose:
 
To play cards and have fun.  Euchre is a German origin, simple, rural type card game

Fitness Center


Purpose:
  This Community Association service organization is a fully equipped indoor fitness facility; managed by a Board of Directors and President.

Flexercise/Aerobics


Purpose:

General Information:
  The schedule is, 45 minutes flexibility training, break, 30 minutes low-impact aerobics.  Some people come just for flexibility training, some just for aerobics and some for both. 

 
Florida Senior America Cameo Club
Purpose:  Supporting club for Ms. Senior Florida Pageant.

Membership:  Open to past pageant entrants

Dues:  $100 application fee for pageant entrants

Meetings:  Bi-monthly at various times and places.  Check with current contact person

General Information:  Will perform for any organization for a donation to the organization

 
Foxy Seniors Dance Club

Purpose:  To enjoy themselves and dance

Membership:  Open

Dues:  Vary

Meetings:  On the last Saturday evening of the month in the Florida Room

General Information:  This group was formed when the Sunsations dance facility closed

 
Friends of European Brass Club

Purpose:  To maintain Heritage of European Music.    

Membership: CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $5 Annually    

Meetings:  Sept. through May, Weekly on Wed. at 7:00 p.m. in the Bunka Room at the Crafts Building.     Special Events:  Dance in Nov., Concert in Jan., and Dance in the spring.

 
Fun Squad of SCC

Purpose:  To promote neighborliness.    

Membership:  CA members and KP residents    

Dues: $5 Annually.    

Meetings:  No “club meetings” but have a monthly get together on the 4th Friday at 5 p.m. at poolside.     Special Events: many trips and hikes.

Gadabouts

Purpose:  To provide first-class travel opportunities to members.    

Membership:  CA members and KP residents.    

Dues:  $6 Annual.    

Meetings:  Monthly on the 3rd Sat. at 10 a.m. in the Florida Room.

General Information:  Club provides day trips, cruises, and tours of USA and Europe utilizing all modes of transportation.  Licensed and bonded by State of Florida.

 
Galaxy I

Purpose:  To promote social fellowship by means of a bridge luncheon.    

Membership:  CA members, KP residents, Freedom Plaza residents.    

Dues:  $5 annually.    

Meetings:  3rd Thurs. of the month at 11:30 a.m. in the Florida Room.    

General Information:  Lunch is $12 per month.  Newcomers are welcome, see local papers for contact information each month.

 
Galaxy II

Purpose:  To play bridge, have lunch and kindle friendships.   

Membership: CA members only

Dues: $7 annually.

Meetings: 3rd Thurs. of the month at 11 a.m. at Aston Gardens.    

General Information:  New members are welcome.  Reservations are required.  See local papers for contact person each month.   

 
German American Club

Purpose:  Social and to promote German/American ethnicity.    

Membership:  CA members, KP residents.    

Dues: $10 annually    

Meetings:  Jan., Feb., March in the evenings at the Florida Room.  Many are advertised in newsletter and local papers.    

General Information: There are special interest groups for German dances and mixed chorus.

 
Great Books

Purpose:  A discussion group for essays of the Great Books.  There is also an off-shoot group for newer members, who discuss Great Books the main group has already talked about.    

Membership:  CA members and KP residents    

Dues:  None    

Meetings:  Main Group, 1st and 3rd Thurs. at 10 a.m. in the Heritage Room.  Off shoot group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thurs. in the Heritage Room.    

General Information:  These are educational discussion groups comprised of mostly teachers and college graduates.

     
SCC Guardianship Foundation, Inc

Purpose:  To help people in the SCC area with their finances and other financial needs through a Durable Power of Attorney. 

Training:  The Guardianship Foundation is chartered by the State of Florida and operates under By Laws and manuals that must be followed.  Volunteers must adhere to Privacy, Patriot and Homeland Security Acts.  On the job training is provided to volunteers.  You do not need a financial background to volunteer for this program. 

Dues:  No dues and no charge to clients

Meetings:  Active volunteers meet twice a month in closed meetings to discuss any issues they have.  They also meet one hour per week with their client.  There is one meeting per year that is open to the public. 

Additional Information:  Many of our clients have no family or close friends in the area.  Guardians become a friend.  They pay bills, keep in touch with family members, monitor the clients well being and offer counseling and referral when needed.  If you would like to become a Guardianship Volunteer, contact one of the numbers listed under Community Support Services in your SCC Membership Directory or call the Information Center at 642-2044.    

 
Guild of Technical and Electronic Experimenters (GTEE)

Purpose:  Gathering of folks who have a common interest in things electronic. In particular, “what’s inside the box – whatever box is in their hand”

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  None

Meetings:  2nd and 4th Mondays from 9 to noon in the Maintenance Building

 
Hand and Foot Club

Purpose:  To have fun playing the card game Hand and Foot.     

Membership:  CA members and KP residents.    

Dues: $3 Annually, Initiation Fee: $5    

Meetings:  1st and 3rd Thurs. at 7 p.m. in the Caper Room.    

General Information:  Club holds two potluck dinners per year.

 
Handicapped Club
Purpose:  Social get together for handicapped individuals.    

Membership:  Open    

Dues:  $10 Annually    

Meetings:  3rd Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Denny’s.    

General Information:  A social event is planned every December.

 
History Society of  SCC

Purpose:  To collect and organize information about the history of Sun City Center in order to prepare lectures, slide shows and perhaps a book (50th Anniversary is in 2011) about our history.

Membership:  CA members only

Training:  We have full facilities to accomplish our goals.  All data organization, text and photo composition is by computer.  We give complete training on each aspect of this Society.

Meetings:  Members may work whenever it is convenient for them at the History Society preserve in the Information Center at 1002 Cherry Hills Drive

  
Hi, Neighbor!

Purpose:  To organize an annual display of Sun City Center clubs primarily for the benefit of new residents.
Membership:  CA Members
Training:  Nothing formal.  The annual display programs are tailored to the clubs’ needs.  
Dues: None
Meetings:  Activity starts in August in close liaison with the CA Clubs Liaison staff.

Special Events: The one event is an evening program in November.

 
Hi Twelve SCC Masonic #397

Purpose:  A Masonic Club designed for fellowship and Lunch.  Includes Ladies.    

Membership: CA members and KP residents.    

Dues:  $20 Annually       
Meetings:  4th Monday October through April at 11:30 a.m. at the Freedom Plaza Club.    

General Information:  There are no fund raisers.  Meetings include a guest speaker.

 
HOPE Fund

Purpose: To raise money to support after school and summer programs at Bethune Park in Wimauma

Membership:  Open; no dues

Meetings:  The Board meets October through May on the 2nd Thursday at 3 p.m. at United Community Church.  Mentors and Tutors meet with the children weekly, October through May. 

General Information:  This is a 501(c)3 organization that provides recreational programs and facilities, cultural activities and field trips, drug and sex education, a reading room, nutritious snacks and a safe environment for children to work and play in. 

Horseshoe Club (SCC Ringers)

Purpose:  Recreational and Social

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $15 Annually plus $5 for an ID pin

Meetings:  Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. until games are finished at the Horseshoe Pits on the South Campus.

General Information:  Play other teams during the winter. Have lots of social events. Females are welcome.

 
Intellectual Information Exchange Club of SCC

Purpose:  Round table discussion of Financial Markets – what people invest in and why.     

Membership:  CA members and KP residents; $10 Annual dues   

Meetings:  Every Wed. at 10:45 a.m. in the Armstrong Room.    

General Information:  Discussions involve what each person thinks of current investments and the market.  You don’t have to be an expert.  Club may have special events during the winter.

 
International Forum of SCC

Purpose:  To facilitate the interchange of experience and ideas on international issues, US foreign relation and the political, economic and cultural characteristics of other countries via panel discussions

Membership: CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $5 Annually

Meetings:  2nd Fridays except July, August and December, from 9:30 to noon in the Florida Room

General Information:  You do not have to be a member to attend programs 


Investment Club
                                                                      
Purpose:  Educational and investing.  The Investment Club has a portfolio.   

Membership:  CA members and KP residents   

Dues:  $300 Annually, plus a $20,000 investment to put into the club’s portfolio.  Everyone has the same amount invested.    

Meetings:  3rd Fridays year round at 9 a.m. in the Atrium Building’s Sandpiper Room.    

General Information:  There is an annual luncheon and the club brings speakers in from time to time.

 
Jazz Club

Purpose:  To entertain and inform about Jazz music

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $2 Annually

Meetings:  1st Monday of the month, October through May from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Florida Room

General Information:  Each month’s program is music from the 30’s and 40’s by original recordings and narration about the artist and music.

 
Jazz-matazz (Jazz Dance)

Ladies Lawn Bowling

Purpose:  To have fun lawn bowling

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training:  Provided by the main club.  Ladies Lawn Bowling members must know how to play

Dues:  None, but must be members of the Lawn Bowlers Club

Meetings:  Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lawn Bowling field

General Information:  There is a spring luncheon and a Christmas party.

 
Ladies Penny Ante Poker

Purpose:   Play Poker

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training:  No training, but members help each other and new members

Dues:  $1 Annually  plus 3 cents per hand/per raise

Meetings:  Weekly from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Royal Room

Additional Information:  Players can come and go during the evening

 
Laff A Lot Club

Purpose:  To have fun

Membership:  Open; No dues

Meetings:  Usually the 2nd Friday of the month in the Heritage room at 1:30 p.m.

General Information:  Social period with coffee and cookies at 1:30.  Everyone brings jokes and at about 2 p.m. they tell jokes for an hour or so.

  
Lapidary Club

Purpose:  To teach Lapidary and make jewelry

Membership:  CA members.  Up to 10% of club membership may be KP residents

Training:  No training if experienced.  For beginners and advanced students, class size is limited.  There is a sign up list in the store.  No charge for use of equipment. 

Dues:  $10 Annually, plus cost of materials.  ($15.50 first year, badge required.) Year runs from

Oct. 1 – Sept.30.

Meetings:  Twice a year in October and March

Special Events:  Christmas Sale

General Information:  Lapidary Store is open Mon., Wed., Fri. from 10 to noon May through September and Mon. through Fri, October through April.  Members work in the store and/or provide items for sale.

 
Lawn Bowling

Purpose:  Fun, social and competition.  Hold U.S. Championships in October

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training:  Free clinic until end of year

Dues:  $60 Annually

Meetings:  Everyday Monday through Saturday at 9:30

Special Events: Parties – breakfast & lunch. Bowling on selected holidays. Tournaments and lots of fun.

Additional Information:  Need white, soft-sole shoes.

Leathernecks

Purpose:  Contacts and camaraderie for Marines.  Participate in Toys for Tots and Providing phone cards for marines overseas.

Membership:  CA members and KP residents who are former Marines or navy corpsmen attached to Marine units

Dues:  $25 Annually

Meetings:  3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Sandpiper Room

General Information:  Participates in Fun Fest.  Have a Birthday Party in August and a Social in the spring.  Has a ceremonial team and does memorials.

 
Lions Club

Purpose:  Charity – to promote prevention and cures for vision problems and blindness

Membership:  Open to area residents

Dues:  $75 Biannually

Meetings: 2nd Wednesdays from 8 to 9 and 4th Wednesdays from 9 to 10 at Ozzie’s Buffet. 

Special Events:  White Cane at seven locations in SCC and one in Apollo Beach.  Fruit Cake Sale in November.  Eye Bank in Tampa

Additional Information:  Meetings include after breakfast speakers, etc.  Group also consults with the Low Vision Club. 

Low-Impact Aerobics
    
Purpose:  A cardiovascular workout, strengthen bones, muscles; build endurance and fun and fellowship

Membership:
  CA Members, and Kings Point residents is space is available. Annual Dues are $12.

Meetings:
  Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays at 8:25-9:25 a.m. in Dance Studio, Atrium Building.

You Should:
  Bring a mat or towel; weights (up to 5 lbs provided); comfortable clothing; shoes for aerobics

 
Macintosh Users Group


Purpose:
  To help Macintosh users with problems and new software

Membership:  CA members and KP residents.  Other area residents may become non-voting members.

Training:  Basic is free, Others $5 - $10

Dues:  $20 Annually

Meetings:  4th Tuesdays, except June, July and August at 3:45 p.m. in the Caper Room

Additional Information:  The club has open labs at Community Hall, a library and CD’s for training. 

 
Mah Jongg

Purpose:  Social

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training:  None provided, you must know how to play

Dues:  $5 Annually

Meetings:  Wednesdays from 6 to 10 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 4 pm. In the Sandpiper room to play

General Information:  A holiday party in December includes a short business meeting.

 
Master Swim Club

Purpose:  To promote fitness and encourage participation in U.S. Masters and national Swim competitions

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $5 local and $33 U.S. Master Swimmers

Meetings: Lanes are reserved Tues, Thurs, Sat, and Sun. from 6-9 a.m. in the indoor lap pool.

 
Men’s Chorus

Purpose:  Entertainment and to provide music for our community

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Training:  Sing with gusto! No auditions needed.

Dues:  $5 Annually

Meetings:  Wednesdays at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church

Additional Information:  Several concerts are presented each year, including a Spring Concert. 

Men's Club of Sun City Center

Purpose:  Community Service and Fellowship
Membership:  Open to all male residents of Sun City Center and Kings Point.
Annual Dues:  $20
Meetings: Monthly lunches on 3rd Wednesdays in Community Hall with a speaker
Special Events:  Two gala lunches that include 'our ladies' and feature entertainment. Special members only Valentine Day dance each February 14th.
Additional Programs:  Assist annual golf cart inspection and SCC Ride, host a prostate cancer support and education group, Parkinson's Disease Support group, provide Philips LifeLine Medical Alert devices to community residents, annual health fair, and fund automatic electric doors for several community facilities.

Mini Bus

Purpose:  To provide an opportunity for people in the community to get to various cultural events, athletic events and entertainments throughout central Florida.

Special Events:  Day trips throughout Central Florida.  Schedules are available at the Mini Bus Office in Community Hall on South Campus.


Model Railroad Club

Purpose:  Share camaraderie and enjoy the hobby of model railroading; see www.sccmrrc.org

MOWW (Military Order of the World Wars)

Meetings:  3rd Thursday of the month at noon at Club Plaza on Upper Creek.  May through November, meetings are held in the evening.

Special Events:  Members participate in Veterans Day.  Send 8 to 10 kids to Youth Leadership Conference in Tallahassee.

General Information:  MOWW is sanctioned by Congress.  Supporting youth leadership is their primary function.  Supports Boy Scouts. Give Eagle Scout awards and ROTC awards to college and high school students.

Purpose:  To have fun and play bridge

Moonglow Dance Club

Purpose:  To make and sell things and donate funds to charity.

Oldies but Goodies Dance Club

Purpose:  To provide a forum for social dancing with music from the 50’s to 70’s (Rock ‘n Roll era)

Membership:  CA & KP residents only (some memberships available to former club members who move to Freedom Plaza)

Dues:  $25 per person

Meetings:  Monthly on Sundays at Community Hall

Special Events:  Summer Barbecue Party, Yearly membership meeting with pizza and soft drinks.

General Information:  Guests pay $5 at individual dances.  Casual dress at all times.

 
Organ & Keyboard Club

Purpose:  To make music more enjoyable by helping people learn to play their instruments better.  To make and interpret music.

Meetings:  Thursdays at 9 a.m., usually in the Armstrong Room. 

General Information:  They have various teachers at their meetings and there is a nominal fee of $2 to cover the music costs and teacher.  This is a social group for people at all levels of ability.

 
Panhellenic Club

Purpose:  To get together with other Greek letter sorority members for lunch and an afternoon of bridge

Membership:  CA members and KP residents

Dues:  $3.00 / year

Meetings:  2nd Monday from Sept. through May at 12 noon in the Atrium Building

  
Par for the Chorus (Greater Sun City Center Barbershop Chorus)

Purpose:  To promote barbershop singing.  34 to 40 members are in the Barbershop Chorus

General Information:  This is a performance group.  They put on shows, do weddings and anniversaries and an annual show at Community Hall.  Group may charge for some shows.  Can always use new members.

 
Patriots Club

Purpose:  To instill and promote Patriotism in Sun City Center

Membership:  CA members only

Dues:  $7.50 per person -- $10 per household

Meetings:  Yearly

General Information:  This is the group that puts up the flags on SR 674 on major holidays (Veterans Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, etc.)  They also accept donations toward the Flag Fund

Purpose:  The PEO Sisterhood is an international philanthropic and educational organization that supports the education of women through loans, grants, awards and scholarships.

Membership Requirements:  This is a transfer group.  You must be a PEO member from one of the other international clubs.
 
Dues:  $5 annually 

Meetings:
  3rd Tuesday of the month November through April.  Refreshments at 9:30 a.m., Meeting at 10 a.m. in the Armstrong Room.

                                              Performing Arts Club of SCC

Purpose:  To perform musical and theatrical presentations for the benefit of SCC and SouthShore residents

Membership:  CA members, plus actors, actresses and technical people from surrounding area

Meetings:  Only when having auditions or producing shows. 

Special Events:  Two major shows a year to raise funds for the renovation of the Rollins Theater.  Several smaller presentations to help local 501 c3 organizations raise money.

Photo Club

Purpose:  Camaraderie among those wishing to improve their digital photography results

General Information:  Club room in Old Town Hall is fully equipped.  Classes are given.

 
Pickleball

Purpose:  Wonderful outdoor exercise and fun.

Membership:  CA Members only.

General Information:  $24 annual dues. This is a new sport for nearly everyone, so players

                                       are very helpful to new members. Classes held 2-3 times a week

Purpose:  Camaraderie among those learning and enjoying the game.

Polish Heritage Club

Purpose:  Camaraderie among folks with similar backgrounds.

Membership: Anyone with Polish background is welcome.

Potters Wheel

Purpose:  To develop and fashion items of pottery.

Membership:  CA Members only; annual dues are $15.

Meetings: Studio is open most mornings and afternoons.

General Information:  Basic training is required; $25 for five lessons.

 
Recreational Vehicle Storage Park

Purpose:  To provide safe place for storing an RV.

Membership:  CA Members only.

Meetings:  Once a year, usually in November

General Information:  Storage fee is $75 per year.

Special Events:  Note that there is also an “RV Campers’ Club” that has monthly outings.

 
R.N. Club

Purpose:  To keep abreast of new medical procedures and to socialize.

Membership: Open to CA and Kings Point residents

Meetings: 1st Thursdays of each month at 9:15 a.m. in the Atrium Building Caper Room.

General Information:  Re-certification every 3 years.

Special Events: Christmas party and field trips to Shriner’s Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.

 
RV Campers Club (“SCC Campers”)

Purpose:  Taking trips together once a month for 3-4 days to exercise the rigs and to socialize.

Membership:  CA and Kings Point Residents

Meetings:  Trips are usually on the 3rd weekend each month; $10

Note:  There is also a storage park for rigs, see “Recreational Vehicle Storage Park” above.

 
Samaritan Services

Propose:  To lend a helping hand by providing neighbor assistance programs for the greater Sun City Center community. 

Services Provided:  Alzheimer’s Respite Care and Support Group for caregivers, Meals on Wheels in cooperation with South Bay Hospital and the SCC Women’s Club, Financial Assistance for residents experiencing temporary hardship, Medical Insurance Counseling to answer medical insurance questions, Companion Care to relieve caregivers, Transportation to medical appointments and hospitals in Brandon, Tampa and Bradenton, and SCC Ride to fulfill transportation needs for daily living activities. (See SCC Ride below)

Sawdust Engineers

Purpose:  To make wood furniture, toys, home and community projects using a fully-equipped workshop.

Membership:  CA Members only.

Training:  6-hour training course on the different tools ($25 1-time fee).

Special Events: School teachers are given one large toy and 6 small ones for their classrooms.                           We provide wood parts for the hand-powered “P.E.T.” vehicles for people who lost their legs to landmines.

 
SCC Ride

Purpose:  To provide transportation to fully ambulatory residents of Sun City Center and Kings Point who can not or who should not drive.  To provide a means for our senior citizens to get out and enjoy the various clubs/facilities available to them within our community.

Time:  Service is available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed on weekends and most holidays.

Service Provided:  Will take residents to Sun Point Shopping Plaza, Kings Crossing Shopping Plaza, SCC offices, stores, homes, restaurants.  Pickups are made on a first come, first serve basis. 

Membership:  To volunteer call Samaritan Services at 916 N. Pebble Beach or call 634-WAVE (9283)

Additional Information:  Volunteers may not load or unload groceries and packages, or assist you in or out of the cars, go into buildings to look for you or wait for you to transact your business. This is not a taxi service.  It is a service provided by volunteers, not paid employees.

 
Scrabble Club of SCC

Purpose:  Camaraderie and enjoying the game.

Membership: Open to everyone.

Games played:
